Hearsay
Hearsay denotes that something appears to be (...) It is a 形容動詞 (な-adjective) (な-adj).
明日は雪が降るみたいだ。 It looks like rain will fail tomorrow
The だ is often omitted.
先輩は今日は来ないみたい。 It appears that senpai will not come today.
文法は大切じゃないみたいです It appears that grammar is not all that important
Looks like (...), -ly
そこのプールは浅いみたいだ。 This pool looks shallow
馬鹿みたいに踊る to dance like a fool.
スポーツ選手みたいだ He looks like an athlete.
